About Dr James Morehen & Nura Alwan
Video: James enjoyed 3 years working as a performance nutritionist as part of his PhD studies with professional rugby clubs Widnes and Warrington. This is a Liverpool John Moores University led promotional video sharing a small insight into the day to day roles of this position when James was studying for his PhD.
Dr James Morehen is a Performance Nutritionist who currently works with professional elite level athletes and global organisations. Alongside this, James is passionate about supporting individual athletes and clients with their own nutrition, exercise and performance goals.
James has spent 9 years in higher education obtaining a BSc in Sport Science, MSc in Sports Physiology and PhD in Sports Nutrition all from the very well respected Research Institute of Sport and Exercise Sciences from Liverpool John Moores University.
James, has enjoyed over 8 years working in elite level sport with amateur to international and Olympic level athletes and corporate clients from the following:

James also now enjoys applying what he has learnt in the elite sporting world to successful strategies and projects with corporate clients working in global companies (e.g. HSBC, IKEA and City Suisse ) and highly successful entrepreneurs.
In his spare time, James enjoys staying up to date with the current literature and as such is a research reviewer for Science for Sport (www.scienceforsport.com) and authors nutrition related scientific informed articles for both The Rugby World Magazine and Golf Monthly.
NURA ALWAN
Nura Alwan is a lecturer in Exercise Physiology and Sports Nutrition at Oxford Brookes University. Nura is also a SENr performance nutritionist and is currently completing her PhD in female physiology and nutrition.
Nura has spent 10 years in higher education obtaining a BSc in Sport Science, MSc in Sports Nutrition and currently studying her PhD.
Nura, has enjoyed over 4 years working in elite level sport with amateur to international athletes and clients from:
- Female physique and fitness athletes
- Female handball players
- Swimmers
- Professional and amateur boxers
Nura is registered with the Sport and Exercise Nutrition Register and is highly trained and experienced in body composition assessment and manipulation, individual nutrition and performance plans and health and wellness having completed this for the duration of her current PhD studies.
